We do not sell your data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app.

2.1 Information you give us
- Account information: phone number, email address, or third-party login identifier (Apple, Google, Facebook).
- Profile information: name or display name, date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, photos, bio, occupation, education, height, lifestyle preferences (drinking, smoking), relationship expectations, interests, and other information you choose to add.
- Verification data: a real-time selfie used for liveness verification and face-matching against your profile photo. This is processed by Amazon Web Services (AWS Rekognition) on our behalf.
- Communications: messages, photos, and voice notes you send to other members through the Service.
- Support correspondence: messages you send to us via email or in-app support channels.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device data: device model, operating system, app version, language, push-notification tokens, time zone.
- Usage data: screens viewed, features used, swipes, matches, time spent in the app, crash reports, and similar diagnostic data.
- Location data: coarse and precise location (only when you grant permission and only while using location-based features like "Connect Now"). Your exact coordinates are never shown to other users — only approximate distance.
- Log data: IP address, request timestamps, and basic technical information needed to operate the Service securely.
2.3 Information from third parties
- If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook, we receive your basic profile information from those providers as you authorize.
- If you make an in-app purchase, Apple or Google provides us a receipt confirming the transaction. We do not receive your credit-card details — payment is handled entirely by the app stores.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and operate your account, including authenticating you.
- Suggest matches and power discovery, top picks, and proximity-based features.
- Enable communication between members (chat, voice and video calls, photo sharing).
- Verify that you are a real person and at least 18 years old.
- Process subscription purchases and provide premium features.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, safety issues, and Terms violations.
- Send service-related communications (e.g. match notifications, security alerts).
- Improve and develop the Service, including aggregated analytics and crash diagnostics.
- Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.
4. How we share your information
We share information only as described below. We do not sell your personal data.
4.1 With other members
The profile information you choose to share (display name, photos, age, bio, etc.) is visible to other members of the Service. Approximate distance is shown when you opt into proximity features. Your exact location, phone number, and email address are never shown to other members.
4.2 With service providers
We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Service. They may process your data on our behalf under contracts requiring them to protect it:
- Cloudinary — photo and audio hosting.
- Twilio — SMS OTP delivery.
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and push notifications.
- Amazon Web Services — backend hosting, push notifications (SNS), and identity verification (Rekognition).
- Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app subscription processing.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting (no message content is sent).
4.3 For legal reasons
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms; to detect or prevent fraud or abuse; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Emper, our members, or the public.
4.4 In a corporate transaction
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to a privacy notice no less protective than this one.
5. How long we keep your data
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except for:
- Information we are required to keep for legal, accounting, tax, or regulatory reasons (typically 1–7 years depending on jurisdiction).
- Information needed to enforce our Terms or address fraud, safety, or security concerns (e.g. records of users banned for serious violations).
- Backup copies, which are securely overwritten on a routine schedule.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your account and associated data (you can do this in-app under Profile → Delete Account).

7. Security

No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
Emper is strictly for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@emper.fun and we will delete it promptly.
9. International transfers
